Hard Summer is one of the most popular ‘Hardfest’ music festivals, and is renown for having a cutting edge electronic lineup of hard hitting, chest caving talent.
Hard Summer 2012 (Hardfest)
Founded in 2007 by Gary Richards, (also known by his DJ persona ‘Destructo’) the ‘Hard’ music festivals have exploded out of the Los Angeles area across the United States, Canada, and even the ocean with ‘Holy Ship!’ Hard Summer is one of the most popular ‘Hardfest’ music festivals, and is renown for having a cutting edge electronic lineup of hard hitting, chest caving talent. Hard Summer takes place once a year in the first weekend of August in downtown Los Angeles, and for the first time in 2012 the festival has expanded to Toronto, Canada.
The Hard Events brand was purchased in 2012 by Live Nation, the largest performance production brand in the United States. This acquisition is seen as a major move for the electronic music scene in America as it opens up the Hard brand to virtually every major concert venue across America. However, some have viewed the merger as a red flag for EDM, claiming that a large corporation like Live Nation does not properly understand the electronic scene enough to properly promote it.
